Notes on Writing - Dialogue

Dialogue, brings the characters to life through speech. The key to writing true character is honesty. Does it ring true? If you expect it to ring true, then you must talk yourself.

Dialogue gives characters their voices. The lead character, in a novel, is the only internal voice we can hear. All things said or thought come from their point of view only.

Read good dialogue by: George V. Higgins, Peter Straub, and Graham Greene.
